Vincent. Oct 18th, 1920.

Letter from Ripon yesterday to say the play is off. I'm very glad as a repetition of those practices would have driven me mad. Had a walk with Ernie last night and fed up until we met Poppy and Alice on Croft Road. They turned back with us and we walked half way to Croft. Get Alice home. When I came back discovered from Poppy that A was with a fellow on Sat night and couldn't go to pictures with her. Decided as follows - that as Poppy is bound to go sometime when A gets a boy, I may as well go in and man Elsie's displeasure. It's bound to come and am fed up with this game. I'm hopelessly in love. Never thought I would get it as bad. Determined to start a campaign.
